Introduction

As the library instruction session may be the first extended contact a distance learner has with the academic library, customer service evaluation of library presentation sessions can provide valuable insight. What do distance students find most helpful about the library’s services and resources? This poster presents data from customer-service surveys taken by students of Central Michigan University (CMU) who have received a presentation by a Global Campus Library Services (GCLS) librarian.

Background

There are five dedicated GCLS librarians of Central Michigan University Libraries who routinely present one-shot library instruction sessions to courses both online and face-to-face at remote Global Campus centers.

In general, GCLS librarians reach out to instructors of the core research classes of those programs offered off-campus.  However, librarians will also present to other classes upon request, or when traveling to a center for a presentation to a core research class.
