A Large Percentage of the AIAN Population Lacks Health Insurance

As of 2012, 27.4% of American Indians and Alaska Natives lack health insurance coverage. This percentage is significantly higher than that of Blacks (19.5%), Asians (16.8%), and non-Hispanic Whites (11.1%), but lower than that of Hispanics (of any race) (30.1%) who lacked health insurance as of 2011.
