        What is Interlibrary Loan?

When you need articles, books or other items that are currently not available from the CMU Libraries' collections, submit an interlibrary loan request for the item through your On Demand Account (ILLiad).

Interlibrary loan enables you to obtain items for your research from libraries around the world.

          What can be borrowed?

You may request articles, books, book chapters, dissertations, theses, microforms, videos, music, CDs, DVDs, conference proceedings and more that are:

          • Not owned by the Central Michigan University Libraries
          • Currently unavailable from the Central Michigan University Libraries

Some items are difficult to obtain, such as references materials, rare books or original manuscripts, and audiovisual materials. It is not the intent of Documents on Demand's interlibrary loan service to borrow textbooks or course required books in lieu of purchase.
