About Primary Sources

What is a primary source?

Primary sources are first-hand accounts of an event typically created at the time of the event, though not always. Many kinds of material can be used as a primary source, but some of the most commonly used sources include things like diaries, photos, and letters.

Where can I find primary sources?

These resources may be found in an archive (physical or digital) or they may be republished in a book or ebook.
