Naxos Overview

Naxos Music Library is a streaming audio database providing primarily classical music, while Naxos Music Library Jazz is mostly jazz and related genres. Members of the CMU community can search the Naxos catalog and listen to tracks using CMU Library's subscription, or off-campus with a Global ID and password.

Additionally, users can register with Naxos for a student/member playlist login to create and save personal playlists to play on their computers or smartphones.

Faculty can login to a separate portal and create playlists that display to the entire CMU community, including their classes. Contact me for additional information.

Going Mobile with Naxos

There are Naxos apps for both of our audio collections. You can set up one or both.

1) Get a Naxos account for the app you want

• For Naxos Classical Music Library

• If you're off campus you'll be asked for your CMU Global ID and password. You have to enter that to continue, but this is not the same as making a Naxos account.

• Go to the Playlists tab, then click Sign up within Student/Member Playlists.

• You'll receive a confirmation email at the email address you entered. Click the link in the email to confirm your account.

• For Naxos Music Library-Jazz

• Follow the same instructions as above, but make sure you're in the Naxos Jazz resource.

2) Get the Naxos app

• Search for Naxos in your designated app store. You could also directly search NML for Naxos Classical Music Library or NML Jazz for Naxos Jazz Library. (Naxos Jazz is only available in the iTunes store.)

• Log in using the personal account you created. Naxos will recognize you initally signed up for your account using the CMU subscription.

What does this App work on?

iPhone, iPad, iPod running iOS 3.2.2 or later.

Android running v. 2.1 or later

Kindle Fire running v. 1.8

If you find yourself in front of a desktop or laptop, you can also go to Naxos Classical Music Library or Naxos Jazz Library on the web.
