Statutes at Large

Federal statutes are the written laws passed by U.S. Congress. Statutes can be published in the form of session laws which are laws (acts) published in numerical order as the laws are passed, reflecting the work of each session of congress.

The Statutes at Large is the publication containing the federal session laws.

United States Code

Federal statutes are the written laws passed by U.S. Congress. Statutes can be published as codes or compiled laws that are a reflection of all the laws currently in effect at a specific point in time, arranged by subject.

The United States Code is the publication containing the federal laws by subject.
