Digital Object Identifiers (DOI) are unique strings of characters assigned to different kinds of research objects (articles, data, projects, files, etc.) that are made available in a digital environment. They are an important portion of metadata and, as a type of persistent identifier. DOI is also needed for journal Data Availability Statements (DAS). To obtain a DOI for data, you can use the following two ways:

You can register for a DOI from a DOI registration agency (RA) service, such as those listed on doi.org/the-community/existing-registration-agencies.
