Elicit

Elicit is a secondary research assistant that uses language models like GPT-3 to automate parts of researchers’ workflows. Currently, the main workflow in Elicit is the literature review. If you ask a question, or upload a paper found using other means, Elicit will show other relevant or related papers along with summaries of key information about those papers in an easy-to-use table. While Elicit is free to try, the free account come with only 5,000 "credits" for a short trial period. Additional credits may be purchased.

Inciteful

Inciteful is a new take on the process of searching through academic literature. It consists of two tools: a paper discovery tool and a literature connector. Paper Discovery tool. The discovery tool builds a network of papers from citations to identify similar papers. The literature connector is intended to aide interdisciplinary research by showing how any two papers are connected.

Keenious

This tool analyzes the text you already have written and makes suggestions of relevant articles. Sign up using your Illinois Tech email to connect to the library and see what articles are immediately available to you.

Litmaps

Litmaps is for researchers who want to visualize research articles by mapping them out. It uses artificial intelligence to perform a network search to find highly connected articles, then maps them out in a time-based citation network that help researchers organize organize their literature reviews and show the connections between articles.

Research Rabbit

Research Rabbit is a highly useful, free tool which enables you to map out and visualize a research topic based on one key paper. Using a keystone paper, it shows you linked papers, reference lists and enables you to see any off-shoots and tangents, as well as where the papers connect with each other giving you a better understanding of your research discipline. Although free, Research Rabbit requires users to create an account before using the tool.
