It was formed in 2019 when GuideStar and Foundation Center merged. It maintains the following two databases that are essential search tools on grantmakers:

GuideStar

GuideStar is a resource that provides information on nonprofits, including nonprofit profiles of over 1.8 million IRS-recognized tax-exempt organizations. Data from validated sources, including 990s. Experienced grant writers use GuideStar to research nonprofits and find foundation grants. GuideStar is less suited for beginners in grant-seeking or those who need help identifying grant opportunities or managing grants.

Foundation Directory

Foundation Directory includes information on how companies and philanthropic organizations distribute funds, and can help you find sources of funding.
