Why Do I Need Financial Information?

To start a business you will need at least a general idea of your required capital and projected costs and profit. There are several types of this financial data that might help you, and the resources for each are listed below.

Financial Information Resources

You can review financial data and annual reports of a comparable business to your planned business, to get a general idea of costs and potential profits, as well as its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.

Industry financial data will give you an idea of how your business should be performing relative to its competitors, using financial averages.

If you want to provide stock information, you should review the current value of comparable businesses, or your planned business' competitors, to get an idea of how your business' stock might do in the market. Be advised that stock value can depend on multiple factors.
